GIFT IDEAS FOR DAD | FATHERS DAY

Father’s Day is just around the corner and, if you’re anything like me, you’ve started thinking about how to show a little extra appreciation for the special men around us. Whether you’ll be celebrating your dad, stepdad, grandpa or another strong father figure in your life, you’ll want to mark Sunday 1 September 2024 in your diary.

For me, the father-figures in our lives are like the bassline in a great song – all too often they’re not out in front, standing out, but instead form a constant, strong foundation, supporting and carrying the melody and other musical elements forward. So, Father’s Day is a fantastic opportunity to pull them into the spotlight and really sing their praises.

But the real question is how? Dads are notoriously hard to buy for! So, take a few moments to appreciate your Dad and get started on the perfect gift with these top tips:

1. Think about his interests and hobbies and how a thoughtful gift might help him enjoy these even more. If he has everything he needs, head into the bookstore for biographies from your hero’s heroes.

2. Listen up – and remember recent conversations you’ve had. Has he mentioned wanting or needing anything? Admired a cool gadget? Expressed frustration about something a targeted gift could easily solve? Hit up the rest of the family and see what they’ve heard too!

3. Spend some quality time with a gift that you can enjoy together. Particularly for older kids, life gets in the way so having an activity planned together will put quality time front and centre. Head to the movies, grab a bite to eat, or even build a Lego set together. Make plenty of time to catch up and share stories (or hear some dad jokes).

4. Personalise his gift. Think engraving, adding a special photo into a photo frame or writing a personal message in the cover of a gift book for him to find.

5. Think inside the box! Gather a selection of his favourite magazines, munchies and drinks and create a bespoke gift box full of things you know he’ll love.

Every day the strong men in our life are there standing behind us and cheering us on to succeed. So, let’s celebrate them – this Father’s Day and every day!
